About Me

I know a lot about being a kid. I should, too, because I’ve devoted my entire life to doing just that – all 15 years of it. And for the most part I’ve paid pretty close attention to how things work in this world. Honestly, life doesn’t have to be all that complicated if you’ve got some basic tools to work with. And those tools can be anything from always saying “please”, to being able to fix a healthy snack by yourself, to knowing how to take care of your money.

This is the whole reason I started my 21 Things For Kids publishing business a few years ago – as a way to get important information to kids about how to be successful in life. Life management skills is what I call it. You can read more about 21 Things For Kids by clicking on “My Writing”.

So maybe I seem a little unusual to have my own business going at such a young age, but I’m just a normal kid otherwise. I was born in Chicago; have grown up in Tennessee; was homeschooled until I was 11. I have lived in a 60 story high rise; on a farm and now in suburbia. I have two little sisters and a little brother. I love my new Wii unit; ride my bike; have airsoft battles with my buddies; and read all the time. My parents are divorced, so life hasn’t always been easy for me. I guess that’s one of the big motivations I have to pass along ‘how to’ info to fellow kids.

I started my Ask John Gabriel blog as an everyday way to talk to kids (and their parents) about the important things going on in their lives. And hopefully to pass along some things I’ve learned that might be helpful. This blog is also a way for me listen to what kinds of things kids are dealing with in their lives. Odds are, I’ve got a suggestion or two of how to make things go smoother.
